Music for Animals
Many times pets are soothed by harp music. I have experienced first hand the calming effect of improvisation in the key of Eb on very stressed dogs, enabling them to fall asleep very peacefully. Having fostered and rescued many dogs over the past 15 years, I know how they love music and many times relax and fall asleep beside the harp as I play. It is rare when an animal does not like harp music, but I have experienced a cat and a dog who really didn't like it at all. One of the most profound moments in my life was playing for my beloved Tiflah, a saluki, as she made her transition.
Lisa Spector, Through a Dog’s Ear, has a series of CDs to calm your dog. We have found them to be very helpful.
Spirit (Sally) was able to hold it together during thunder after “music nutrition.”
Low tones are very soothing to senior canines. John practices bass guitar and there is peace in the house.
